Filling our days
Well the first week of school holidays is almost over and so far it has been a pretty great week. Yes, there has been some fighting between the three cherubs, but mostly there has been fun had by all.
We've played Lego A LOT, we've gone for scooter and bike rides, jumped on the trampoline and done some Easter baking.
Fingers crossed next week goes just as well as this one has.
How do you fill your days on school holidays?

Easter crafting
The kids have been begging me to do some Easter craft activities. Truthfully, I've been putting it off. My patience levels for kids crafts are not that high at the moment.
But yesterday I bite the bullet and opened up a craft box I ordered them in the mail last month.
I gave them their supplies, set the boundaries and let them go.
They were quiet for over an hour, no arguing, nothing! It was bliss. (Ethan was asleep...)
Tomorrow we are going to try some more Easter craft and also try our hands at Easter Biscuit Decorating.

We are going on an egg hunt
So what do we need? Mummy made baskets of course!
And so where the kids!
Did you have an Easter egg hunt at your place?
I am linking up with Jess for IBOT. And also here and here
They were mostly made with fabric scraps and pieces of felt out of my felt box. I love a project that comes together without having to buy anything.
I just sat at my machine on Saturday afternoon and pieced some fabric together, matched up some felt etc and in just over an hour I had 3 baskets. No pattern, just winging it.
I was pleased as punch.
And so where the kids!

Happy Easter
Happy Easter from my family to yours!
I hope you are all having a safe and happy Easter with those dear to you. We are having a quiet day at home with B servicing my car. We will venture out and visit my grandparents this afternoon once my car is back together...
The kids enjoyed an Easter egg hunt this morning. Ethan mainly sat on the stairs and pointed to Caden and Mahli telling them where to go to get eggs. He isn't well this weekend with some temperatures, poor little mite.
How are you spending today?

Chocolate, Lots of Chocolate
So as you may or may not know, my kids are on school holidays at the moment. Caden has declared that we have to do fun stuff all day, everyday while he is on holidays...
Day one started off great. We made some Bunny ears, we played with lego, we played on the trampoline and did some bike riding.
We also made some Easter eggs!
And we will no doubt be making them again before the week is out!
I am thinking about making some Reese's peanut butter cups inspired eggs, YUM! And Mahli has requested some cherry and coconut eggs. Caden just wants anything chocolate... And Ethan, well he is pretty much the same as his brother.
Day two started of with arguing for the eldest two. Fingers crossed I can turn this around into a great day like yesterday!

Tutorial: Bunny Rabbit Ears
This morning Caden, Mahli and I whipped up some Bunny Rabbit ears. It is the first day of school holidays so they claimed that we need to do an activity.
So we went through my felt stash and pulled out some grey felt, then we raided my scrap bin for some cottons for the front of the ears and set about to make some bunny ears.
I am completly hopeless at drawing so I printed out some Bunny Ears templates. A quick google will find you loads of different types.
Trace around them and cut out. You will need two of each for one set of each to make the ears stable enough to stand up on their own.
You will also need 2 rectangles of felt per set of ears for the head bands. I measured my kids heads to get an approximate lenght for the rectangles. They ended up being about 25cm x 4cm (or 9 and 1/4 inches x 1 and 1/2 inches) for Caden and Mahli and about 20cm x 4cm for Ethan (or 8 inches x 1 and 1/2 inches)
If you are making more than one set of ears stack all the ears together so you don't end up sewing the ears together in the wrong direction...
Now I don't have any photos of this step so please stick with me on this...
First you need to sew the cotton prints to one of the felt ears. Then once all the cottons are sewn onto the front felt ears sew the front and back felt ears together... Does that make sense?
Then once both ears are done sandwich them in between the rectangles for the head bands and sew them all together. Don't forget to sandwich some ribbon in between the ends of the felt rectangles so they can be secured on you child's (or your head!) as you can see in the photo below.
And here are the finished Bunny Ears...
Here are Cadens finished ears, he did most of them himself!
What do you do on school holidays to keep the kids amused? We are all about Easter craft and baking this week.
