monday gratefuls

Happy Monday!

I've missed a few weeks of Monday gratefuls because our internet has been shocking but it seems to be going working again! So I guess that's my first grateful. Working internet FTW!

We are now into our second week of school holidays and I'm loving it. Have I told you how much I love school holidays? Easy breezy mornings, the kids playing outside together all day. In fact they haven't played on an electronic device all holidays. It's been fabulous.

I'm also grateful for my decision two months ago to join Jamberry, it's been fabulous. I've been having so much fun and I've met some truly awesome people.

So that's it for my gratefuls this week.

monday gratefuls

Monday is almost over but I thought I'd pop in to share my gratefuls.

1. Thanks to B I had time to sew today.
2. We had a lovely quiet Easter and home and the kids didn't consume too much chocolate
3. Darcy is starting to talk more and it's pretty cute.

monday gratefuls

I haven't done a monday gratefuls post in a while and I think it's time to start doing them again.

We've had a busy few months but right now I have a lot to be grateful for and it's good to take a moment and acknowledge those thing.

1. I'm grateful for our health. B had a knee op just under a fortnight ago and he is recovering well and everyone else is fit and healthy and that is awesome.

2. Visitors- We just had my Mum stay with us for a fortnight and she was a great help. She looked after C and E when we had to go to Perth for B's knee op and M's orthodontist appointments.

3. I'm grateful for new friends. I recently became a Jamberry Independent Consultant and I've met a wonderful bunch of ladies that I'm now pleased to call my friends.

monday gratefuls

Happy Monday! It's time to find some positives in what sometimes can feel like a mundane and somewhat groundhog day existence!

1. Sunshine! The weather is just perfect here in the Pilbara, but it won't be this nice for long. We will no doubt be getting 40+ degree days soon and it's going to be like hell on earth everyday when we leave the comfort of our homes, but right now it's just perfect.

2. Watching the bigger kids play with Darcy. He adores them and they adore him right back.

3. It's only 4 more days until B has 6 days off! And I'm hanging out for those days big time.

*Please note: I KNOW I have a lot of positives in my life, but just sometimes the drudgery does get me down. You know like things like picking up what feels like the millionth dirty sock in a day or cleaning up spilt milk and weetbix AGAIN. Whilst I LOVE my tiny humans, parenting and mothering is HARD WORK and we need to take time to find a few positives to reflect on every so often.

Monday gratefuls

It's a tough one this week. B's away at the moment and he just came off 6 x 12-14 hour days at work so I've had very little adult time lately and very little help in the way of parenting BUT you gotta look on the bright side to get through sooo..

1. Caden and Mahli both did really well at their sports carnivals last week and I'm grateful that I could be there to see all of their events. I can only be there because B works those long hours, if he didn't I'd have to work too and I'd miss out on a lot of time with the kids.

2. Darcy's smile- I mean who can be in a bad mood when a baby grins at you from ear to ear and shows so much love to everyone.

3. Sunshine- It's something else that lifts my mood. I've been struggling lately. Forgetting things and just being generally run down. But sitting in the sunshine is good for the soul. Now if only I could throw in some sleep for the next few nights on top of the sunshine I'm sure I'd feel on top of the world. But 3:30am wake ups seem to be what I'm in for at the moment.

monday gratefuls

1. E finally sleeping in his own bed *touch wood* I hope I haven't just jinxed it but after months of him sneaking into my bed at night he is finally starting to sleep in his bed again. Yay for no more getting kicked all night.
2. Sunshine
3. B was home for the weekend- That doesn't happen a lot anymore due to his roster change and we all enjoyed having him home.

HELLO Monday

Cate's asking us to say Hello to Monday and well I used to mark Mondays with Monday gratefuls, but when I lost my mojo for blogging a few months back, Monday Gratefuls got put in the too hard basket.

But what better time than any to welcome the new week than now?

So hello to a new school week- hopefully this week is as productive as last week, but we have a few extra school activities this week so it'll be hard.

Hello to B having 5 days off come Thursday. I'm extra excited about this since he has been pretty much working non stop for the past 3 weeks. I need the break and he needs a break too.

Hello to getting some work done behind the scenes at ASWC. I've got a new editorial calendar to put together amongst loads of other things.

And hello to continuing with my 30 Day Challenge for May.

monday gratefuls {wk8 2015}

Happy Monday! I've been thinking about what I'm grateful for all day today. Just trying to pick a few things, but my too tired brain just can't seem to fully process any. I mean I KNOW I have plenty to be grateful for but when sleep is alluding me and we are having yet another battle about homework it's just hard, you know?!

Anyhow here are a few things that I AM grateful for today.

1. A 7pm bedtime!
2. School days where the house is reasonably quiet from the hours of 8am to 2pm!
3. Only having 1 child at home during the above hours

Yes, they are pretty shitty things to be grateful for but this mumma heart is tired at the moment and I need all the breaks I can get.

Anyhow, what are you grateful for this week?

monday gratefuls {wk 7 2015}

1. the feeling of my heart swelling with love every time I pick up Darcy.
2. a handy husband- he is building me a new sewing cabinet that will house my fabric, sewing machine and what ever else I can squeeze in there!
3. sleep- I'm not getting much at the moment but I'm getting just enough to be grateful for it.
4. rain- we've had a bit over the past week and it's cooled down the days just enough to be tolerable.

monday gratefuls {wk 5 2015}

So I missed 2 weeks of documenting my gratefuls here on the blog, but that is because I was off gallivanting in QLD with my family. So there was lots of gratefuls over the last few weeks, just not shared here.

Anyhow, this week I am grateful for:

  1. The Bullbar on our car. Yep, this is a strange one, but I was unlucky enough to hit a kangaroo last week when I was driving home from Perth. The bull bar was a godsend in that one moment.
  2. Home. The feeling of pulling up in our driveway after two weeks away is indescribable
  3. Family. We had such a great time over the last fortnight spending time with many people in our extended family
  4. The circle of life. We lost a much loved family pet over the weekend. Yes it was incredibly sad for our family, but instead of dwelling on our loss I used it to teach the kids about the circle of life. We have had discussions about heaven and why things happen like this. I also explained to them that it is okay to not have all the answers and that sadness is a perfectly okay emotion and not to be afraid of it. Yes, I realise that it is a strange thing to be grateful for, but I'm consciously trying to change the way we look at things in the world. By actively looking for alternate views of a particular situation. Yes, this may not be a cup of tea for some people, but it's working for me.

monday gratefuls {wk1 2015}

A quick list this week. I actually forgot it was Monday, oops!

1. New beginnings
2. Secret plans
3. The ease of my breastfeeding journey this time 'round. Must be 4th time lucky I guess.
4. Rain- There hasn't been much but it has helped cool off our afternoons
5. I know I was grateful for this a few weeks ago, but air conditioning! It stopped working a few days ago and it sucked! It's back up and running again though. When your days get up at over 40 degrees every day through summer and night time temps stay in the 30's it's kind of a neccessity. I wish it wasn't as I hate using it so much, but we simply have to use it living here.

monday gratefuls

{image via we heart it}

So last week I started documenting my gratefuls again, it felt good so here I am back to do it again. I'm hoping to keep up with it in 2015 as being aware and acknowledging what I am grateful for it great for the practise of mindfulness which inturn helps keeps any signs of depression at bay.

So this past week I have been grateful for:

1. The ability that Darcy has to make a whole room smile. He really has rounded out our family perfectly and watching the other three kids dote on him is adorable.
2. The magic of Christmas through a childs eyes. It's a beautiful thing to watch.
3. Family
4. Hugs
5. Friends- past, present. Those both in and out of the computer.

monday gratefuls

I used to do grateful posts weekly but that practise feel by the wayside for some reason. Over the last few weeks I've been thinking that I need to start doing it again. To make myself accountable for my happiness and be conscience of my life and emotions.

The last few months have been good and bad all rolled into one. I've felt overwhelmed a lot and stressed out just as much. But I can honestly say that I have been enjoying these hazy newborn days too.

So here are five things that I am grateful for:

1. School Holidays
2. Air Conditioning- it's been over 40 degrees everyday for weeks and I'm so over it.
3. Kids that are generous with their cuddles
4. My new Kitchenaide Mixer- I'm loving that thing silly
5. Christmas time- It's a wonderful time of year when life really starts to slow down and we can enjoy the things that matter most.

The kindness of strangers

On Friday I went down to the post office to collect a parcel thinking it was just some Christmas shopping that I had ordered online. But when I turned the parcel over to see who is was from I was shocked to see the name Tash.

Tears started to well up as I wondered what she had sent me and why. Well she had read this post and thought she would do something special for me. And man did she make my day, week, dare I say it, month?!

You see Tash and I have never met, we've only chatted on social media. And whilst she might not be a stranger to me, she still is if you know what I mean? But that simple gesture from Tash really made my day and it also made B's too. He couldn't believe someone I have never actually met sent us a gift out of the kindness of her heart.

Tash we are so grateful that you took the time to do something wonderful for us by celebrating Darcy. We truly appreciate it, you are a beautiful human x.

Grateful

It has been a while since I have written a grateful post. I feel it is about time that I started again. It really does do me the world of good to reflect on what I have to be grateful for.

So this week I am going back to basics and am truly grateful for:

1. My family and their health

2. My new DSLR Camera to document said family!

3. The sound of my children's laughter and the joy that it brings me.

I'm grateful for...

AIR-CONDITIONERS! In particularly mine!

I know I was shouting but this week has been so bloody hot that we have had to resort to the use of them A LOT!

I will be hunting through the shed tomorrow to find anything that resembles a wadding pool and setting it up for the kids. It is weather like this that makes me wish we had a money tree so we could put a pool in. I have a feeling we would live in it if we did!

Has it been hot in your part of the world this week? What are you doing to keep cool?

Grateful and Loving

This week has been rather ho-hum. We have been busy, I have been overwhelmed and oh so tired.

I'm mainly tired because I can't sleep when B is on night shift. Strange since he has been doing the same roster for the last 5 and a half years, so you would think that I would be used to it by now. But no, if I hear a strange noise, or notice something odd going on outside, I barely sleep for the rest of the night. The dogs always seem to bark more when he isn't home too, just to add to my paranoia!

So today I am grateful for awesome mags where I can look at the awesome pictures and dream of craftiness that I will indulge in when I have the time and energy to do so.

And I am loving trashy TV where I don't have to think about anything and just laugh at the absurdity of it all. Hello The Real Housewives et al.

What are you loving this week?

What are you grateful for?

I am killing two birds with one stone (bad analogy to go with this, post isn't it?) and linking up with Paisley Jade for Things I'm Loving and Maxabella Loves for I'm grateful for.
