My babies started school!

Here is QLD school went back yesterday. This meant that Caden was heading off to Prep and Mahli was starting Kindy!

I was confident that Caden would be fine. He has been excited about going to Prep since Kindy finished last year. Mahli on the other hand told me last week she didn't want to go to Kindy. She told me she wanted to stay home with me forever...

I explained to her that she would eventually have to go to school and pointed out that she could play on the swings for a long time, meet new friends and play with playdough to her hearts content. This seemed to butter her up a bit, but I was still worried about how she would handle drop off.

You know what? She walked in put her stuff away and headed for the swings. I pushed her for a few minutes then told hrer it was time for us to leave and we walked out. No tears at all (from either of us)

When we got home Ethan thought all his Christmases has come at once. He got to play with all the toys all day without anyone talking them off him!!! He was one happy little camper, let me tell you.

Kindy and School pick up time rolled around and I collected to very happy kids. They were excited about their days and couldn't wait to go again.

Do you have kids starting school this year? Have they started yet? How did they go?

Are you freaking out about lunches yet?

Because I am! The thought of school lunches send me into a panic. I don't want the kids to have boring lunch boxes. I had them and if I ever see a lettuce and cheese sandwich again it will be to soon. I mean seriously Mum, we live in Queensland. The cheese was always melted and the lettuce was always soggy and gross.

I have been checking out pinterest on and off for the last few weeks to hunt down some ideas. I think I found a few!

My two eldest head to Prep and Kindy next week. So my to do list this week is a little daunting. But hopefully lunch boxes wont break me out into a cold sweet anymore since I have some ideas up my sleeve.

Things I'm Loving

I can't believe that this week is almost over and that it is only 15 days til Christmas! Where on earth has this year gone??

This week has been one busy week indeed. Caden said goodbye to his kindy friends on Wednesday, and they celebrated the end of their kindy careers with a concert,

We finally finished decorating the tree.
I'll have to take a better photo once I track down where B put the camera...

We got the teachers and kindy kids Christmas gifts ready
I just noticed I didn't have a clear picture of the pot, but it said 'Thank you for helping me grow, From Caden'

Reindeer Noses!

We have been baking up a storm with this lovely machine.

And today it made making this cake today for my Mum's Birthday an absolute breeze!
Took less than 40 minutes all up to make, bake and put the icing on.

And I launched the new website on Sunday night!

As said, its been one busy week, I think I need to go and have a lie down!

Oh, That's Pinterest...ing- Lunch Box ideas

I know that the school year is almost over, that is probably why I am losing my creativeness when it comes to packing Caden's lunch box. So where else would I go but Pinterest to get my lunch making mojo back!

Am I a crazy over-protective Mum??

I wasn't going to post about this, but after sleeping on it, I really need to know what others think.

Caden was sick again over the weekend. Come Monday morning his temp had returned to normal, but was still a bit off colour, but there was no snot, vomit or anything like that. So he headed off to kindy. Excited about the day. The Teachers aide (Mrs K) asked about our weekend and I let her know that Caden hadn't been well again and could she just keep an eye on him as he had told me that he wouldn't tell Miss K or Mrs K if he wasn't feeling well in case I would come get him. He wanted to stay for the whole day... She said that was fine and she would check on him through out the day and ask how he was feeling.

I went about my day and didn't hear anything so just assumed all was fine. Fast forward to pick up I arrived and as I walked in the door I heard Miss K say Caden you can go, I looked around and couldn't see him until I found him sleeping in his kindy bed (The rest of the class was on the mat). I woke him and we packed everything up. I needed to speak to Miss K about science day as we would be late on that day due to an appointment and then just asked how he was during the day. She said he was fine. A little bit quiet, but fine. He had a good rest but didn't sleep... yep you read right, his teacher told me he didn't sleep. When I said he had because I just woken him up she was unsure, and just said oh okay.

There were 6 kids not at kindy yesterday, so only 17 there... and she had no idea that Caden was still sleeping whilst they were having mat time.

Don't get me wrong, I love his teachers, he enjoys his time at kindy and I am so happy with how things are going there and the activities that they do, but really is it to much for me to ask that his teacher actually know the wear-a-bouts of all students especially when they are all inside the classroom??? She thought he was sitting on the carpet area with everyone else as evident by me hearing the "Caden you can go" upon me entering the room.

So am I being one of the silly over-bearing protective mothers, or do I have a reason to be slightly... concerned I guess the word is for it? We are only new to the school/care experience seeing as Caden is only 4. So I have no idea what to expect.

Edit: Apparently I am defiantly a Mum who can't spell... Can't even spell protective right in the title! Opps.

Mixed feelings

I have just returned from kindy drop off... I was thankful last week that not much fazes Caden, but it seems I spoke to soon. My poor little fella is hurting and I don't know why or how to fix it. This morning he didn't want to go to kindy, he kept putting it off.  But we got there. I left Ethan and Mahli with my Mum so I could have some one on one time with him, but when we got there he was extremely quiet and not really interested in being there. We did a few things together and then he disappeared behind the chubby house they have there and looked like he was about to cry, his eyes where welling up... I asked him what was up and tried to stay calm and casual but inside I was hurting for the little guy... He simply told me that he didn't know... I distracted him by getting him to show me his kindy work book and then left him with the Teachers Assistant and they went off to play with play doh. I just rang and checked and apparently he is fine and laughing whilst eating his morning tea..

I know a few things happened last week with a birthday party and him not being invited, but apart from that everything seemed fine. I even spoke to his teacher last week to see how he was going and she told me everything is fine, he has lots of friends and is coming along in leaps and bounds...

Okay I am just rambling now, but needed to type this out to try and sort through what I am going to do for the little dude. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle this situation?

I am sharing my creative space this week...

... with my eldest son Caden. He is 4 and with the help of his Kindy teachers he has been creating a bit this week.

Can we all say Awww together now?!?

He was so funny when he got home yesterday afternoon, not letting me unpack his bag or anything. But then he decided that he couldn't wait until Sunday to give them to me.

Happy Creative Spacing peeps! And Happy Mothers Day to the Mums/Moms out there!

Till next time...

He's Home!

I have some great news! My Grandad is home! He arrived home this afternoon after getting released from hospital yesterday and appears to be recovering well. That is a huge relief let me tell you. You see he scared the bejesus out of me last Monday as he had a stroke overnight Sunday night and was unable to use his right side or communicate at all. He has regained all his speech and movement, but it will still be a long road of recovery.

Love ya GD

Some other good news! My new Sewing Machine arrived while we where in Brisbane visiting Grandad. I LOVE her soooooooooooo much!

My new baby!
And this is what I was doing today with my new baby!
Sherbet Pips
Isn't the fabric just devine! I bought a Jelly Roll of Sherbet Pips from Corrie at Retromummy as I wanted an easy quilting project. I was going to make pinwheels out of them, but put that idea in the to hard basket for now as I have way to much going on at the moment and just wanted to finish a project asap. I need to buy some fabric for the backing still. I am thinking a plain red or grey??? Not sure yet.

I also forgot to tell you all about Caden's first day at Kindy since I was a bit pre-occupied with my Grandad and our trip to Brisbane to see him.
He had a fantastic first day last week. And he just melted my heart when he was sooooo excited to see that I was there to pick him up at the end of the day. On his first day he made a rocket ship! Yep that's right a rocket ship. Out of HUGE boxes. I had to put it in the boot of our car to get it home and we have a Ford Territory. This thing was almost as tall as Caden.  He also made matching necklaces for himself and Mahli. Naww, how cute is my big boy?!?!?

And last but not least it was Mahli's third birthday yesterday! The last 3 years have flown by but we have fit so much in. Mahli woke up yesterday morning with a very sore neck, she couldn't moved it and just cried and cried and cried. A trip to the doctor and some panadol and heat pack and she was abit more chipper, but she was still didn't have full movement of her neck back. It is still stiff today but no cry. So that is a plus! She was spolit this year with a Jessie doll, Lotso from Toy Story, her Guinea Pigs (Jessie and Minnie), a hutch for her guinea pigs, a new 13ft Trampoline and a Jumping Castle. The Tramp and the Castle where joint presents from all our Family.

Well I best be off to bed! Nighty Night!

Treats

Happy weekend my imaginary readers! You may be wondering about the blog title today. Well guess what? I treated myself this week with a bit of retail therapy (I do that when I am 'down') and here are a few of my scores!

Aren't they just the cutest!
I got them from Amazon. Since Caden reached Toddlerdom (and is now a Kindy kid) we have been baking up a storm to entertain him and so I spend alot of time baking treats and just couldn't restist the Matroyshkas measuing cups. And Check out the awesome finger spatula! When we opened the parcel Caden just said 'Aww Mum that just the coolest'. Naw how cute is he!!!

I also indulged in a new sewing Machine. You may remember me wanting to throw mine out a window earlier in the week. Well I almost did when I was sewing Caden's kindy sheets! So off to Ebay I went and came up with this! Not only did I get it for $450. But all profits from her sales in January go towards the QLD Flood Appeal!

Can't wait for the new machine to arrive. I have so many plans for that baby!

Today I am off to get last minute things for Caden starting Kindy on Monday and the requested items for his first lunch box. Typing that makes me sad. Where has the last 4 and a half yrs gone???
We are also picking up some Guinea Pigs for Mahli's birthday. Her birthday isn't until the 31st but the Breeder said they are ready to go now. Mahli is a little Dr Dolittle. She loves all animals and it is just so dam cute to watch. Now you maybe saying 'Hang on Amy isn't is a bad idea to be giving a 3 yr old pet guinea pigs. She is to young to have that resposiblity.' I know this all to well. The resposibilty will fall on me completly. Mahli will just be my 'helper'. And she will love every minute of it.

Well I best go get organised. Have a fab weekend!
