Instead of using a pattern I decided to just trace around one of my dresses and wing-it. I like winging it. I usually just start cutting then the ideas all form whilst I am sitting at my sewing machine. I used some fabric that I have had sitting in my stash for years. I think I picked the main fabric up from ebay for about $5 for a few meters. The binding fabric I got on Craftumi.
The dress came together in just over an hour from start to finish, so you have to be happy with that!
I think it still needs something, I am thinking about either adding some of the binding fabric just under the bust or as trim on the bottum. Or maybe even some pockets... I will wear it as is for now and decide over the next few days.
That's the beauty of making your own clothes I guess, you can adjust as you go!
And now I am planning on attempting to sew with jersey knit! I have been scared of doing that for years. But I won't be doing any major sewing for myself until I shed some more kilos! (I have about 25kgs to go...)
Do you make any clothing for yourself? Or are you afraid of sewing machines?
I am linking up with Our Creative Spaces and The Train to Crazy pop on over and check out all the craftiness!
