Living Area Update

Back in July I shared with you our main living area and main bathroom and plans to update the spaces.

I made some progress on the bathroom, but the living area got put on hold. It is still on hold, but that didn't stop me from updating some of the furniture.

I decided on some replica Eames chairs for our dining chairs and they arrived this week.

I like how the make the space appear bigger. But I do have plans to strip the table back and make it a little lighter.

I'll keep you posted.

A Soulless Bathroom

Following on from my post on Tuesday about finding my homes style, I thought I would show you the kids bathroom.

It lacks colour, style, well is just really really bland. And in the interest of full disclosure, these photo's were taken before cleaning. This is how the kids left it this morning...

It is towel washing day, hence the no towels...

First off, I will be putting something on the walls, maybe some wall art like these:

Finding my homes style

We built our house over 6 years ago now. I was an almost 21 year old with no idea what I wanted in a house or how I wanted it to look. We ended up with a house pretty much like the display home that our builder showed us. A builder I grew to hate quiet a bit by the end of our build...

Apparently a house isn't like a car, you shouldn't expect a smooth finish on anything... but I digress, this post isn't about our dodgy builder, it is about me trying to style it on a little money as possible.

There are a few things that need to be done around here. They are:

• New carpet in bedrooms and 'formal' living/dining area (which is actually used as a toy room and my craft space)
• All interior walls repainted- Some of our house wasn't actually completely painted in the first place and the kids have not been kind to our walls either.

 

Things I would like to do:

• Replace dining chairs with some gorgeous Eames replicas
• Re-cover lounge
• Buy new rug for lounge room- Our current rug is just an Ikea cheapy. I think it cost about $50...

As you can probably see, I still haven't recovered all the chairs...

I really need to sort out that toy pile and stop Ethan from playing with the Tupperware too...

Looking back our lounge purchase was a BAD idea. Suede and kids do not go together, but it was bought pre-kids and has seen some better days.

I am struggling to decide which colour to paint the walls. I do know I would like a bright rug for the living space, something with a pattern. Possibly a kilim type mat...

My Place and Yours: Outside

I thought I would link up with Punky and Me for her weekly My Place and Yours meme.

This weeks theme is Outside... So here is a peak of what outside my home looks like.

B is constantly on the kids for not putting things away, maybe he should put some of his shoes away... I counted 6 pairs of his shoes there...

Miss Mahli's trusty gumboots. I want a pair in my size!

I can't wait for winter so we can start lighting the fire at night again.

These birds attack. Always. My Aunty gave them to us after Ethan let our budgies out... He is to scared to go near the cage now :P

I am anticipating a glut of passionfruit soon.

I wish that horn would break... soon!
