Christmas 2015

 Warning: Photo Overload

So Christmas 2015 has come and gone. We had a fabulous day with just ourselves and ate too much food and played with Lego, tried out Caden's new Sticky Wicky and watched a movie.

We never seem to get visitors at Christmas because it too hot for them, so it's always just us as we prefer to be home for Christmas since 4 kids and travel at that time of year is not easy or enjoyable.

I hope your Christmas was a safe and happy one spent with people you love.

#DecemberDaily Days 1-6

This year I thought I join in with December Daily, you know because I have a great track record of keeping up to date with my Project Life Albums and all... but anyway. It's the 11th of December and I am pretty much up to date so I thought I better share them here (because you know if I don't then they didn't happen, right?) for posterity. And because, well I haven't really blogged in yonks!

And I've just realised that I don't have a picture of the second page for day 5... I'll share that when I upload days 7-14.

Anyhow, I'm mainly using all the supplies from the Ali Edwards December Daily kit. I'll probably add a few different embellishments that I have in my stash, but I'd have to unpack it first (yep, I still haven't finished unpacking from our move last month).

If you want to check out some other December Daily layouts be sure to check out Alyce's over at And Sew We Craft.

Gifts for Boys (8-12 years)

It's that time of year again when the kids start writing their letters to Santa. Above is just a small snippet of what Caden has on his list.

It's heavily focused on on Minecraft and Video Games.

1. Minecraft Steve Figurine
2. Skateboard
3. Yet more Minecraft figurines
4. Rabbids Invasion The Interactive TV Show game
5. Fuji Instant Camera
6. And MORE Minecraft merchandise

He is just a little obsessed with Minecraft at the moment and he has finished most of his video games that he received for his birthday in September so a new game in the house will be very welcome and he loves Rabbids Invasion on Foxtel so this game will be a no brainer.

Do you have a Minecraft obsessed kid in your house?

What about video games, do your kids play them?

Is there a limit on the time that they are allowed to play them?

Choc Peppermint Fudge

On Sunday night I decided to try a new Christmassy fudge recipe. And well now I wish I didn't because it is just too good to stop at one tiny piece!

Seriously, you HAVE to make this. It would make a great gift too.

Recipe is from the Pioneer Women via the Food Network.

Advent Activities For The Whole Family

Yesterday I started and finished a new handmade Christmas Advent Calendar with the help of hubby and the kids.

It is a wooden advent tree made from a pallet we have had lying around for ages. And the bags are made from a charm pack of 'In from the Cold'. Inside each bag is 24 different advent activities.

Those activities included some of the following ideas:

  1. Put up and Decorate the Christmas Tree
  2. Make Christmas Cookies
  3. Make paper chains to decorate the house with
  4. Watch a Christmas movie
  5. Make salt dough decorations
  6. Make candy cane bark
  7. Checkout the neighbourhood Christmas Lights
  8. Make a Christmas movie message to send to friends and family
  9. Go on a candy cane hunt
  10. Do some Christmas colouring in
  11. Make red and green playdough
  12. Listen to Christmas songs
  13. Make Christmas cards for friends and family
  14. Make gifts for school friends
  15. Make reindeer food
  16. Do some Christmas crafts
  17. Read Christmas books
  18. Have a loungeroom slumber party and watch as many Christmas movies as we can
  19. Decorate Christmas biscuits
  20. Make food treats to give to friends and neighbours
  21. Make a list of things that you are thankful for
  22. Make new decorations for the Christmas tree
  23. Make Christmas tree brownies
  24. Open one Christmas gift

What kind of Advent activities do you do?

Sunday Stash: Christmassy Goodness

So you have probably heard me whine about not living anywhere near a fabric or craft store... And if you haven't well lets get you up to speed.

The stats:
My closest Spotlight (major chain store) is 12 hrs away by car (without stopping)
My closest Lincraft is 16 hours away by car
My closest independent fabric store is 16 hours away also.

So I do A LOT of online shopping for fabric and craft supplies, but sometimes I also send my Mum shopping for me. It's a bit of a clueless adventure for my Mum as she doesn't sew or craft in any way shape or form.

But she did good recently, really good. And here is just some of the goodies she sent me.

Yep, that is 21 fat quarters of Christmassy goodness right there! Can't wait to cut into them and get making!

Thanks Mum!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It hasn't felt much like Christmas this year. It really all boils down to the fact that our move was one big drawn out process that started in October and seen the kids and I living with my Grandparents while B was on the other side of the country settling in to our new home.

The term settling in was used lightly then. When I arrived last week I was met with a tonne of boxes. I lost count of how many I unpacked this week.

Because of all the unpacking that I was doing Caden was left in charge of the Christmas tree.

And not much of our other decorations are put up this year either. Instead I have been trying to hang our pictures and photos but I am finding that hard as we aren't allowed to nail into the walls due to a risk of asbestos and they local shops have a very limited supply of 3M type hooks.

But I have figured out our Christmas menu, the tree is up, the presents are wrapped and we have two big nights ahead of us in order to get the big present put together in time.

Does it feel like Christmas at your place?

My awesome Christmas present

On Christmas day I told you that I did in fact receive something of my wish list. I was blown away by it as I really didn't expected it at all.

I received this-

Plus an awesome accessories kit with two lenses, and I have been snapping away ever since!

It is still on auto, but I WILL be taking it off soon. I just want to get a bit more comfortable with it before I do.

Do you have a DSLR? Do you have any tips for me?
