{Review} Illooms LED Balloons

This post is brought to you by Nuffnang and Illoom Balloons

Caden recently turned 9 and we received some balloons to review just in time for his party. These balloons weren't just any old balloons but Illoom balloons which unlike the average balloon, Illooms balloons include an LED light in each balloon, which illuminates when activated by the easy-pull tab, lasting for up to 15 hours!

Now unfortunately ALL of the photo's that I snapped of the balloons illuminated at night also included children that weren't mine, so I obviously can't share those photo's here BUT can I just tell you that a few things that we discovered when trying these balloons.

1. 9 year old boys love them! They told me that they were the coolest balloons that they had ever seen.
2. Even though they say the LED lasts for 15 hours ours lasted for a lot longer than that. Mostly 2-3 days.
3. They aren't just fun at night time (see below)
4. And the balloon itself certainly lasts alot longer than a normal balloon (again see below) we have had them floating around the house for WEEKS with no sign that they are going to pop any time soon.

The kids are already begging me for more packs of these balloons and I'll certainly be on the lookout for them next time I step foot in a Big W, Kmart or Woolworths store.

If you're on the lookout for some they come in the following different types:

  • Plain Mixed (4 colours)
  • Girly Mixed (4 colours)
  • Happy Birthday (4 colours)
  • Faces (4 colours)
  • Multicoloured Marble
  • Pink Marble
  • Flashing Alien
  • Flashing Gnome
And when I was checking out their website I discovered a HEAP of cool ideas to use them for like camping (lighting with electricity and batteries), pool lights and backyard lighting during BBQ's.

What would you use them for?

{Giveaway} Don't Let Mosquitoes Ruin Your Summer

A little while ago we ventured on a mini holiday to Exmouth to spend some time at the beach and for B to do some fishing. Living where we do now and coming from where we did we certainly miss the beach, water and all that it entails A LOT! So any chance we get to go to the beach we jump at.

But that trip also included a trip to the hospital due to two of the three kids having an allergic reaction to sand flies and mosquitoes. Even though they had insect repellent on the WHOLE time it just wasn't enough. So next time we head to Exmouth we will also be packing some Para'Kito packs. We have been using them around town this past week, and whilst there are only a few mozzies about, they haven't been bothering us whilst we have been wearing the Para'kito clips and wristbands.

The clips and wristbands give off a pleasant odour and is much less intrusive than smelly and often greasy insect repellents.

Para’Kito is a 100 percent natural eco-friendly mosquito protection device. As the number one seller in France, and much loved in 37 countries worldwide, Para’Kito™ is set to become a summer favourite here in Australia; an essential part of every suitcase, beach bag, hiking kit or tackle box. As a natural and safe alternative to other products on the market, Para’Kito™ is
ideal for adults, children, babies, pregnant women and allergy sufferers alike, as it has no direct contact with the skin, leaves no unpleasant odour and offers 24 hour protection from mosquitoes and insects.

A unique blend of seven essential oils including; lavender, geranium, citronella, pine tree, patchouli, clove and peppermint is infused into the heart of a polymer pellet, which slips easily into your Para’Kito™ wristband or clip.

These patented oils mask the presence of humans from mosquitos for 15 days effectively making the wearer invisible, even when coming in contact with water, eliminating the need for reapplying sticky chemical sprays. The Para’Kito™ clip is perfect for travel (it easily attaches to a backpack, belt, or can be hung inside a tent when sleeping) as well as for babies – just hang it from their pram or stroller, while the neoprene wristband offers comfort and style with a range of fun colours available.

The European quality product is both lightweight and completely waterproof, making it perfect for all Australian pastimes, whether you're camping in the Northern Territory, fishing off the coast of Western Australia, or simply enjoying a BBQ in Brisbane; with Para’Kito™ you'll never be left unprotected again!

And good news, I have one Para'Kito prize pack to giveaway.

Prize Pack Consisting of:
2 x Para'Kito clips - $24.95 each

1 x Para'Kito wristband - $24.95 each

1 x refill - $14.95

Total Value= $89.80

All you need to do comment below and
tell me your horror mozzie story!

Christmas Gift Ideas: Red Balloon Subscription Boxes

Buying Christmas presents is a hard task. I like to actually think about the person I am buying for and wondering if they would really enjoy the gift, not just buying (or making) it because I like it, or because it is on sale, or readily available.

The task of trying to find just the right gift for each person is always a challenge, but Red Balloons Subscription boxes might tick a few boxes for several of my family members this Christmas.

Last week we were lucky enough to receive a Maggie Beer Barossa Box to try out. And I had to quickly hide the biscuits from my kids as they are suckers for any kind of cracker.

We also received some verjuice and some spiced pear paste. All products have been earmarked for recipes to try this coming weekend. I've never cooked with verjuice before, but being a lover of all things Maggie Beer and The Cook and The Chef, I have a few things in mind.

And I might just buy myself a subscription for this box so I can continue to try some more Maggie Beer products.

Puppies, Puppies, Puppies + giveaway

Zhu Zhu Puppies, you either love them or hate them. Unlucky for me, my kids love them beyond belief. Miss Mahli received them by the bucket load for her 4th birthday so I admitted defeat around early February this year. It has worked out okay really. There are rules though!

For instance no Zhu Zhu Pet or Puppies is allowed admission into Mummy and Daddy's bedroom- This rule came about after one started chirping and squeaking under our bed at around 1am one morning. Now, we have an ensemble so it wasn't exactly easy to get out...

They are also not allowed in the kitchen and have to be put away properly at the end of playing with them, i.e. in their designated tub.

Last week we were sent a pack of Zhu Zhu Puppies to review.

The kids had fun putting them through their paces and just this morning have been playing quietly with them for over an hour.

Doing some washing!
Getting an X-Ray at the Vets

Does your skin resemble that of a fish? +giveaway {closed}

Just short of two months ago I was sent some Busby Pure Tissue Oil to trial. I have been using it every time I remember too, which is usually every second day, and have to say I am pretty happy with the results.

My skin resembles that of a fish or reptile pretty much all year round unless I put some effort into taking care of it. As you can imagine I have been through my fair share of moisturises in my life.

I have used other similar products to Busby Pure Tissue Oil and I was really happy with the results.

I first started using the similar products after the birth of Caden over 5 years ago to help with the road map that appeared on my stomach, but I would always dispense too much due to the nature of the bottle. Well with the Busby Pure Tissue Oil that didn't happen as it is a pump action pack. It also means that if I knocked the bottle open, it wouldn't spill everywhere, which has happened to me in the past and and let me tell you, body oils are bloody hard to clean up!

Busby is a tissue oil which helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks, ageing and dehydrated skin.  The difference to other products in the market is that it’s natural.

It contains rich, nourishing natural ingredients including Avocado, Grape Seed and Rose Hip oils – and no petrochemicals which can clog the pores and leave a greasy feel.

The positive of Busby Pure Tissue Oil for me were:
  • Easy to dispense
  • Which meant less waste
  • All Natural
  • Less greasy than other oils I have tried
  • Noticeable difference in my skin
The negatives were:
  • Price- at $17.95 per 100ml it is a little more expensive than the other Tissue Oils that I use. But don't get me wrong, this doesn't turn me off the product at all.
I am really happy to tell you that I have 4 x 100mL (full size) Busby Pure Tissue Oil RRP $17.95 to giveaway away to you guys.

To be in the running to win, all you need to do is the following:
  • Leave a comment below. You can tell me anything you like (but please be nice!). If you like, I would love to hear skin care secrets that you swear by.
For additional entries:
  • Share on Twitter and comment back here to let me know.
  • Share this post on Facebook and comment back here to let me know.
  • Like Busby Pure Tissue Oil on Facebook and comment back here to let me know that you did.
When sharing please tag @MahliMoo so I can keep track. Thanks muchly!

The giveaway will close on November 5th and will be drawn via random.org. All winners will be notified on the blog and emailed also. So please make sure you leave me a way to contact you.

Disclaimer: I was sent one 100ml bottle of Busby Pure Tissue Oil for the purpose of this review. No money was offered nor accepted.
