Planes, Trains, Hospitals, Orthodontists...

Last week we headed to Perth for some medical appointments. We had to leave two of the boys at home with my Mum who travelled over to look after them for us.

So I spent a whole 5 days only being responsible for two kids. Man that was easy! Whilst our time away was filled with hospitals and orthodontists offices I still made sure that we fitted in some fun stuff. We took the train to Fremantle for fish and chips and a play in the park, we went shopping in the city and went swimming.

It was great to spend some time with Mahli without the bigger boys around, I hardly ever get to have one on one time with the older three kids so it was great to chat with her and she talk to me a lot last week.

Don't get me wrong, I missed the boys like mad but even with B being in hospital it was a relatively stress free week.

But we are home now and it's back to parenting 4 kids and all that it entails. And with B recoverying from surgery things have been very busy.

Did I mention that I've also become an Independent Consultant with Jamberry? I'm loving it and have met loads of great ladies and my nails have never looked this good!

Let me know if you want to try a sample :)

Looking back

*WARNING* This post is VERY photo heavy.

Looking back to 2 years ago our life was different yet the same as now. We had not long relocated from Queensland to Western Australia and were still adjusting to life in the Pilbara. We had just taken the kids on their first trip to Perth (we've now been about 4 times in 2 years) and we were a family of 5 and thought we would stay that way seeing as my body wasn't really co-operating.

But 2 years on we are well and truly settled here in WA, we've moved from a small 3 bedroom house to a small 4 bedroom house last December and this is where we will most probably stay until Caden reaches high school and we pack up from this remote part of the world to somewhere that offers better schooling opportunities for our kids.

We have also welcomed Darcy into our family and have become a family of 6. Looking back I can see just how much the kids have grown and changed but yet are still the same. It's weird how things can be the same but different.

What has changed for you in the past 2 years?

5 Good Things

1. My new Christmas Mug:

2. The pool that Target lost finally arrived:

3. I no longer have to craft in the outside storage room or the dining table because I moved my stuff back inside to a corner of our living area...

4. The kids had a ball at their end of year concerts even if we had to have two goes at it after the first one was cancelled due to getting rained out 5 minutes before start time!

5. We have been enjoying discovering new Christmas books and reading them together every night:

What are 5 good things from your week?

Rundown...

That's how I feel right now. Just spent, I could sleep for a week and I don't think that it would do me any good.

I need the sun and some time spent outdoors, but it is just already so so hot. You can feel the heat at 7:45am as we are walking to school, the sun just beating down and burning us already. What I really need is some sea and salt water, but we won't get to do that until after Christmas.

So much stuff has been going on in the background here and I haven't been able to share most of it, so I just haven't been writing at all. But I miss it here, I miss those of you that pop in and comment here. But again, I just can't share most of it.

There are work related frustrations, my PCOS is kicking my ass again, family stuff, landlord stuff... the list just goes on.

I know everyone has their own dramas to deal with and I know life is hard for a lot of people a lot of the time. My life is just making me eternally cranky and I need to take a step back and just breathe. I need time to get my health and energy levels back to normal but I just can't find the time. Throw in a demanding three year old whose only way of expressing himself lately is screaming at me and well I feel like I might just lose my mind any second.

Every since my battle with post natal depression I have been more aware of my moods and what they mean for me. I can feel myself slipping quick. I just hope I can stop myself, and bring myself back from the brink...

I read something, somewhere yesterday that motherhood and exhaustion go hand in hand. I think that's true, but it can't be the only way.

What do you do to lift your moods? Do you think motherhood and exhaustion go hand in hand?

Five on Friday

1. My Grandparents arrive tomorrow morning. We are all a little excited to see them. They will be here for two weeks!

2. Because of point one I have been busy cleaning the last few days. My Granddad is a tad bit picky when it comes to me. He likes to point out my cleaning short falls.

3. It was the first week back to school this week and I am already hating homework.

4. Gus the bunny has doubled in size. I'll have to share some more photo's next week.

5. It has been a month since we lost Angus. Bella is doing much better, she actually bought a ball to Mahli yesterday and the kids and her played with it for over half an hour. She hadn't shown any interest in playing games until them. It really made my heart swell. We still miss Angus everyday, but seeing Bella having fun makes it a little easier.

Hello, Friday

This week has been one that I would rather forget. Monday started the week with promise, but then everything went down hill from there. Tuesday saw Ethan vomiting for most of the day and then Wednesday I woke up feeling less then stellar. I got the kids off to school and came home and put a movie on for Ethan so I could try and rest. Only to get a phone call from the school to go and pick Mahli up. Well things just worse from there. Mahli and I had been visited by the dreaded gastro and it hit us HARD! Then it proceeded to take down B yesterday. The only thing I can say now is TGIF!

Here's hoping for a productive and crafty weekend!

Phone Dump

Not much time for blogging this week, so some photo's from my phone will have to do...

 Loving me new frixion markers!
Received the last block in the FQS Block of the month. Can't wait to finish this quilt!
 I am loving this book!

Cluck Cluck! How tiny is this pattern?!
I made my first baked cheesecake today. This was it before it went in the oven. Hopefully I can share it later next week.
Ethan's birthday is in a few weeks and he received some early presents today. He was pretty excited about them.
Awww, my sleeping baby xx

Around here

It's like the weather knew that the calendar flipped over to the 1st of June and decided to freeze us all. We spent the weekend either by the fire outside or huddled inside under blankets. We really must invest in a heater, pronto!

Even the skies turned it on for us.

We had a cold week a few weeks ago and then it started to heat up a bit. We thought maybe that was what winter was like here... It was fresh every morning with temps around 8C and then the days would heat up to 25C and we would be getting around in shorts and t-shirts.

Well it appears that the warm weather has left us. Days have still be getting up to around 16-18C but factor in the winds and jeepers you are shivering in your boots! And talking about boots, I have actually been wearing boots, ALL DAY! Back in Queensland that was unheard of for me. Boots were only worn when we went out to the footy.

Heat packs have been warming the beds and more baking has been done than usual in an attempt to warm the house up.

What's the weather like in your part of the world?

And I just have to share this photo of Ethan from last week. Man, his smile just melts me!

Five on Friday

This week has pretty much had be feeling sorry for myself on the couch. I've had a cold all week and only now is my head starting to clear, slighty.

I've not done anything worthy of blogging this week either, but I have scouted the internet a fair bit. So thought I would share 5 things that have tickled my fancy.

1. I am totally making a long sleeve version of this dress made by Sew Caroline!

2. I know it's almost winter here and we live nowhere near the beach anymore, but I think I need to make a few of these for the kids for next summer!

3. Since winter is upon us I need to make myself an infinity scarf like this one from The Cottage Home.

4. I'm am excited that we are almost up to month 2 of the ModernQAL over at ASWC. I can't wait to share my blocks! In the meantime here is a sneak peek...

5. Okay, this wasn't around the web, but rather on my camera roll. It's our mini doxie Remy, who we had to leave in QLD. Miss him so much, he lives with my grandparents now and the spoil him to bits.

In my bag

I bought myself a new bag a few weeks ago, my old faithful was getting a tad, well old.

So I thought it was time to update. My new bag is Orange and gorgeous and not to mention pretty clean at the moment too!

So I thought now would be a pretty good time to share what exactly is in it!

My diary
A zipper pouch- in it is some lip balm and some tweezers and a mirror
My Purse
A receipt
notebook
pen
Lincraft Card

Whats in your handbag at the moment? It is tidy or is it like my bag usually looks, full of random kid things and crumbled biscuits?

Random Stuff

Things have been quiet on the blog this week. For a few reasons but mainly because I was away from home for most of the week.

Anyway, I thought I would share some of my week with you:
  • Caden losing his first tooth
  • Mahli falling over at least 10 times (she does that a lot!)
  • B and I being on 6 planes in 3 days
  • Me visiting places I have never been before
  • Travelling to another time zone and back
  • Getting up at a god awful hour every morning this week
  • Caden playing his second last game of football for the year
  • Ethan talking in clear sentences
  • I read some books that I have wanted to read for a long long time
  •  And our last plane of all the 6 was delayed by almost 3 hours and all they gave us was these measly $8 refreshment vouchers

So what did you get up to this week?

noticing

This week has been busy with school, work, life and a misbehaving Labrador...

But I took some time out today to notice my surroundings.

Admiring Caden's peas that are coming along nicely

and look! My strawberry plant is blooming,

I didn't expect to see that for a few months, but it has been pretty hot here lately.

Loving the we just had a sun shower...

And wishing that I had the life of this spoilt cat

What are you noticing today?
