Well, it's almost finished. And it took me long enough too!
It needs a button, but would you believe that I don't have one the right colour here?! I have a whole container of buttons and none were just right.
I used Debblie Bliss Cotton DK 49 for it, and I just love the feel of it. It is perfect for our Queensland weather.
I think Mahli needs a Kina in every colour! They are just to cute!
No more knitting for me for a while though. I have been having a problem with my left hand when I am knitting, it cramps up like anything. Instead I have a long list of sewing to do.
Do you knit? Do you ever have problems with your hands cramping up?
I am linking up here, here, here and here.

Handmade Knits
I mentioned to my Grandmother a few weeks ago that I was knitting a cardigan for Mahli and this gave her the idea that she should pull out her knitting too.
So in about 4 days she knocked out as little red cardy for Mahli and then she just kept on knitting.
Mahli has another cardy, this time in pink (not photographed, it's in the wash) and her dolls have not been forgotten either.
And I think Ethan now has three new jumpers and Caden has one and on they way.
Meanwhile, I am still knitting Mahli's Kina!
Oh to be able to knit like my Granny!
And this jumper was knitted last year by her,
Ethan wore it out yesterday and we got some many comments on it it wasn't funny.
Do you like hand knitted clothing?

On the needles
So with the weather thinking about cooling down here in Queensland I have started to pull my knitting out again.
I was lucky enough to win a voucher from the gorgeous Suzy Hausfrau online store recently and I used it to purchase this lovely wool.
I am using the purple to make a one of these for Mahli
I started it today and it is going well.
The green and cream will be for Ethan. I am undecided on the pattern though. If you have any suggestions feel free to share some links. I need something easy as I am still a beginner. I am an ace at scarves and wash cloths, but clothing is another story.

My Creative Space
I actually got to do some craft this week! I ordered some knit knit kits last week for some knitting to happen in the car our holidays but I decided to get started on one of the project on Tuesday night.
Knitting still takes me ages so I still have only gotten this far
but I am hoping it will resemble something like this.
I still haven't had the courage to try something more difficult than a simple scarf or in this case a snood.
But I am hoping to try my hand at this over the next two weeks.
We will have a lot of time in the car whilst away so I should be able to use that time to get some knitting some!
I am linking up with Our Creative Spaces today. I missed it last week :-( Pop on over and check out all the creative goodness!
Have you done anything crafty lately?
****
Caden is jumping out of his skin as he so excited about us leaving for holidays very soon. He has all the days planned out, when we are going to the zoo, when we are visiting Nanna M (my Nanna) and when we will be building the snowmen. Hopefully I can harness his enthusiasm and turn it into something constructive as I have a lot of items on my to do list. Not only to I have to make sure we have everything for our holidays. I also have to make sure the house is spotless as my Grandparents are coming to look after everything for us.
****
Every night Caden and Mahli help me to be Ethan to bed. Lately they have progressed to telling him "We love you to the moon and back and see you in the morning" as I put him in his cot each night. If only they were that nice to each other things would be so much easier around here.

Actually Caden was laying on the couch last night and Mahli came up and gave him a kiss on the cheek... Caden told her he didn't like kisses so that made her do it more... which resulted in WWIII.

Our Creative Space
It's Thursday again peeps! Already, I hear you groan! Yep this week has flown by (or is that just me???)
But it also means it is time for Our creative space.
I have been attempting to teach myself how to knit different stitches as can be demostrated by these pictures...
See the yellow one, yep, done two rows and gave up, the shades of grey, I am getting there but it is driving me bonkers. I have discovered I can only knit whilst the kids are asleep or else where, I need to concentrate too damn much!
All I was trying to do was make some nice wash cloths to go with teatowel swap... so I gave up and just knitted two squares with a standard knit stitch, ta da!
I have also been playing with fabric and making all sorts of bracelet. The kids keep breaking my cheap beaded costume jewelry so I figured I would make something that they would find hard to break. I have made a fair few braided ones before, but am trying new ways to make them. These are just two of the braided ones, pretty boring, but easy to make and they add some colour to the gloomy winter days we are having.
And the postie was kind was kind to me today too!
I got some Dick, Jane and Sally fabric and will be turning it into a quilt.
Why don't you pop on over and check out all the creative people that are hanging out over here today!

I am grateful for...
...the fact that I am about to become a full time stay at home mum again! I gave work my notice that I am no longer available for casual hours whilst on Maternity Leave (yes, I was crazy enough to agree to work on a casual basis whilst still on leave!) I also extended my leave until May 2012 WOOT! I am excited about that.
I wouldn't call it being grateful, well maybe I would, but I have taught myself to knit this week! I am pretty excited about that. I have managed to make myself a coffee cup cosy
yes, i did put a COFFEE cup cosy on a glass to take a picture... |
and also started on a scarf for myself.
I bought some kits for olive and me to try out and they were so easy and I am enjoying it so much. One of the juniors at work yesterday told me I was to young to knit 'casue knitting is for grandma's, lol. Thanks a lot K, thanks a lot...
Pop on over and visit Maxabella to see what some other great people are grateful for this week.
P.S I still haven't found my camera so am still making do with my iPhone. Maybe if I bribe the kids they will remember where they put it???
