And what are you going to do?

When we started telling people about our move one of the first questions they asked was "What are you going to do?"

I would usually respond with, "Um, have you met my children? One of which is only 2..."

I mean we were moving across the country and would have no family and friends to help out with child care, I would need before and after school care for two kids and full time care for Ethan if I was to go back to work. Back home I only worked when B was at home so that we didn't need to pay for care, and where we moved to there is limited child care available. So was it really much of a stretch to imagine that I would just stay home with them 100% of the time?

I am completely and utterly happy to be staying home with my children full time. I am now able to without it effecting our finances too much. And I would really like to be able to help at school and also be available to the kids 100% of the time.

I am so grateful that I am now in a position to be able to do this, but I am so over people and their "But what are you going to do" line of questioning. I am a Mother, I am completely fine with that label, so why can't they be too?

Why does only being a Mother have to have such a negative connotation to it? Why do I feel I need to justify myself to people because I only want to be a Mother right now?

the simple things: week 3

a weekly linky where we all can share the simple things in life that are making us smile.

Last week was a particularly bad week for us here. Not bad as in horrible things happened, just bad in the sense that our moods were pretty low. I have felt isolated and alone and it doesn't help that B didn't have a great week at work.

Saturday saw things improve, we headed out to a neighbours house for an Australia Day BBQ. The kids had a ball, and it was great to get to know some of our neighbours.

Yesterday started out with some bad news about our house back home, but that is being sorted out by the insurance company. Our home town was hit pretty hard by the floods in QLD, so my thoughts are with everyone back home.

To help me forget about all the blahness from last week, I have been sewing. Sewing was what made me smile last week!

It felt good to be creating again. I hadn't touched a sewing machine since the start of December and I hadn't touched mine since October!

What simple things made you smile this week? I would love it if you linked up below and shared your simple things from this week.
Guidelines:
• it would be fantastic if you grabbed the badge below and added it to your post.
• please stop by and visit some of the other posts that are linked up.
• please spread the word about this linky. That would really make my day xx

What have we done?

This week has been a long one. It was the first time since we have been here that I have felt so far away from home. I've felt anxious about everything we have done and just have far we have moved the kids.

I will be fine though, I know those feelings are perfectly natural, I mean we did just move our family from one side of Australia to the other.

The kids are doing great here though. Mahli has grown so much in the past month, she speaks more freely to people and isn't as shy. Same with Caden. There are loads of things for the, to do here too and they can't wait until school starts.

And I am sure that once school starts and we get into mover of a routine that things will be better for me too.

Water, Water Everywhere!

Yesterday we got home from a quick trip to the park and the shops to find that a water pipe had burst in next doors front yard.

There was water everywhere

and it flowed for about 4 hours before they shut the water off and 5 hours before the water was put back on.

And then this morning at about 9ish, Ethan starting yelling at me that there was a river out the front!

Well the pipe had burst again, this time in another location.

This time it took 5 hours for them to turn the water off, even though they were here when it happened.

So the kids took advantage off all the water...

And now they are all a funny shade of orange and we have no water for them to get cleaned up...

You might have noticed...

{Image found here}

that things are changing around here. The blog name has changed from MahliMoo, Me and Three to Actually Amy.

The web address has changed too, but the old one still works as I actually figured out how to redirect it to www.actuallyamy.com.

I will also be installing a new look layout and design later this week too.

I do have one favour to ask you though. The Facebook page is moving over to Actually Amy and I would love it if you could pop on over there and hit like. I'd love to still be able to chat with you over there!

Getting to know our new home town: Karijini National Park

One of the things we want to do while living over here is seeing as much of WA as we can. It will kind of be like one great big holiday for a while as we cross off places on our to see list.  And we haven't wasted anytime, today we ventured out to Karijini National Park.

It reached 47 degrees out there today so we didn't see much but what we did see was pretty special.

Do you know of any must see places for us in WA??

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

It hasn't felt much like Christmas this year. It really all boils down to the fact that our move was one big drawn out process that started in October and seen the kids and I living with my Grandparents while B was on the other side of the country settling in to our new home.

The term settling in was used lightly then. When I arrived last week I was met with a tonne of boxes. I lost count of how many I unpacked this week.

Because of all the unpacking that I was doing Caden was left in charge of the Christmas tree.

And not much of our other decorations are put up this year either. Instead I have been trying to hang our pictures and photos but I am finding that hard as we aren't allowed to nail into the walls due to a risk of asbestos and they local shops have a very limited supply of 3M type hooks.

But I have figured out our Christmas menu, the tree is up, the presents are wrapped and we have two big nights ahead of us in order to get the big present put together in time.

Does it feel like Christmas at your place?

30 days to go!

We are all on the count down to when we all hop on a plane and head over to reunite with B in WA. The last few weeks have been HARD. Lack of sleep is wearing me down as I battle with the three cherubs to get them to sleep in unfamiliar surroundings. One night was particularly hard when all three wanted me at the same time. That is not fun at 3 in the morning!

I have also been dealing with real estates as we try and organise the house to rent it out. That is beyond stressful!

Anyhow, I think that's enough whinging for one day!

Moving = Stress

This week has been busy beyond belief. Our house got packed up on Monday and Tuesday.

Wednesday was spent fixing our yard and doing other odd jobs and Thursday we said goodbye to B.

He is now in WA and we have moved in with my Grandparents.

Our Internet here is sporadic to say the least. I am not sure I will be able to host Totally Pinworthy until we have settled in WA but I will see how I go.

So what have I missed all week while I have been offline? Anything exciting?

I like where I live

I really do. Not liking it isn't the reason we are leaving.

It is a beautiful place to live. I mean it really is, take a look.

I will miss these views a lot!
