Dreaming of re-decorating... + a giveaway {closed}

A few weeks back I wrote about how I am wanting to start re-decorating and start adding things to our walls.

It started of with my MIL buying us new curtains for our main living area. They are lime green and amazingly they don't look horrid...

 She got the inspiration for the green curtains from two pictures/paintings that adorn our walls in this space. She actually painted the frangipani one for me about 7 years ago.

A part from those two, there really is nothing much else adorning our walls except for 3 photo canvas. Hence me starting this:

I have been hunting around for more inspiration and apart from heading to pinterest, I have had my head in this months Country Style magazine. I want to keep the house light and bright, the front cover is inspiration right there:

And as I keep turning the pages, I find more and more images that I would love to use as inspiration for parts of our home.

Wine, Books & Spring- Three of my favourite things {giveaway closed}

Have I ever told you that Spring is my all time favourite season, not only do the flowers start blooming, the weather warms up (some say a little to quickly in my part of the world!) but it is also the season that I celebrate my birthday! Oh Spring, how I love thee. And this gives me even more reason to love this months issue of Country Style it is a whole issue dedicated to my fav season!

As always there are some great articles this month and plenty of house and garden porn to drool over and dream about. But I want to focus on just two of the articles right now.

First of it is Melissa and David from Moombaki wines grabbed my attention. I do like to indulge in a nice wine, but I am totally clueless how to select the right one. I usually stick to a sweet sparkling wine and really admire anyone that has the skills to not only select the right wine, but to actually craft one. These two people certainly know their stuff! David and Melissa started their vineyard from scratch by regenerating their 42-hectare property that was overrun with weeds. 17 years down the track, Moombaki is teaming with life and their vineyard has won a string of awards. I am completely blown away by that. They did all this whilst raising their sons!
"We've won our share of medals but we don't really chase that," David says. "I wake up every day and feel blessed to live in this part of the world. Our kids are growing up in a great environment. I don't think I would trade it for anything."
Then just turn the page and you are greeted by the smiling face of Sarah Taylor. At first glance you would think she is sitting in her living room, but no it is her small little book shop in Port Elliot, SA. The photo alone makes me want to visit Port Elliot even if it has nothing else to offer me. If you are a long time reader of this blog you would know that I love books, and if you know my geographical location you would also know that my closest bookstore is over 120kms away! It is also a large retail chain so the feel would be completely different feel to South Seas Books and Trading. Oh how I would love to walk into a book store like that.

Other stories that might interest you are:
  • ON THE RIVER – Returning to Tasmania, a chef finds space for her children to grow by the Tamar river (this is a fantastic story for decorating on a budget, and running a small business while having children also);
  • GROWING FRIENDSHIP – Kyneton, Central Victoria: When two women move to a Victorian country town they discover a mutual love of flowers; and
  • SIMPLE GUIDELINES FOR MATCHING MEAT TO WINE: Country Style magazine’s Rob Ingram takes a fresh look at matching meat to wine (perfect for those spring/summer BBQ's!!).
To stay up to date with all this Country Style why not check out their Facebook page. Or check out the website for some stunning eye candy of the house and living description.

 And thanks to the lovely folks at Morey Media I have copies of the Spring Edition of Country Style to giveaway to three lucky readers.
