{Upcylcing} Baby Blankets to PJ Pants

A few weeks ago Ros from Sew Delicious made a gorgeous long sleeved top for her daughter out of some baby blankets. It reminded me that I had a few baby blankets packed away and thought I could make something for Ethan out of them.

Well the other day I did!

Two of the blankets turned into PJ pants for Ethan.

The pink blanket will be turned into a pair for Mahli.

And the blue blanket will hopefully become a top for Ethan. I just need to figure out what pattern I will be using.

Do you upcycle items into something new?

KCW: PJ Pants

So I know that Kids Clothes Week was weeks ago. And well I didn't really do everything I had planned to during KCW. My Mum was here on holidays, so I couldn't do much.

But I did make three pairs of PJ pants, so that's got to count for something, right?

I tried to snap picture of the kids in their new PJ's but well only Mahli would co-operate and that was only for about a minute on an overcast day...

So you will just have to accept these photos.

The pattern I used was by Sew Jereli and can be found here. The pattern only goes up to a size 5 so for Caden's pants I just added about 2 inches to the whole pattern, there was no science to it. I just eyeballed the pattern and cut around it to how big I thought I needed it to be... And it worked, yippee!

I sew pants a little different to the tutorial that Toni shares in her pattern post. I sew the legs first and then put on leg inside the other right side together to sew the crouch. It works the same as Toni's tutorial though.

I have also sewn some more pants based on this pattern I will hopefully share them later this week, with better photos! Promise.

Bad Mummy Moment

Caden has been home from school since Tuesday afternoon after we got the dreaded call from sick bay asking us to pick him up as he wasn't well. He looked better this morning so B took him off to school and when he arrived the whole class were dressed up like Pirates... except Caden. We had no idea today was 'Pirate day'. So in an effort to regain some Mummy brownie points I made him a quick pair of 'pirate' pants this afternoon.

They are only pyjama pants made out of skull and bone fabric from my stash.

He has given me his sickness so it was the best I could do today.

He loved his new pirate pants and feel a little better for sending him to school without his pirate dress ups on...

Have you ever not known about or forgotten a special event at school?

It's a Pyjama Party!

It's school holidays here so my creative space has been filled with colouring in and collages for the past two weeks, but I did get some time over the Easter weekend to make the kids some more pyjamas. I don't know what it is about pyjamas, but we always seem to have a shortage of them in our house.
Mahli refused to pose for me so here are a a peak at the fabrics I used for her nightie. I made it the same way as the one I did back here.

Do you have a pj shortage at your place too?

I am linking up here, here and here.
