Here is QLD school went back yesterday. This meant that Caden was heading off to Prep and Mahli was starting Kindy!
I was confident that Caden would be fine. He has been excited about going to Prep since Kindy finished last year. Mahli on the other hand told me last week she didn't want to go to Kindy. She told me she wanted to stay home with me forever...
I explained to her that she would eventually have to go to school and pointed out that she could play on the swings for a long time, meet new friends and play with playdough to her hearts content. This seemed to butter her up a bit, but I was still worried about how she would handle drop off.
You know what? She walked in put her stuff away and headed for the swings. I pushed her for a few minutes then told hrer it was time for us to leave and we walked out. No tears at all (from either of us)
When we got home Ethan thought all his Christmases has come at once. He got to play with all the toys all day without anyone talking them off him!!! He was one happy little camper, let me tell you.
Kindy and School pick up time rolled around and I collected to very happy kids. They were excited about their days and couldn't wait to go again.
Do you have kids starting school this year? Have they started yet? How did they go?
I am linking up with Jess for IBOT
Glad to hear first days went off without a hitch! My baby started at daycare yesterday...others start next week! So far, so good...
ReplyDeleteGood luck Cathy! Hope it all goes well x
DeleteWhat a great experience for you all! I'm glad it went so well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Laney :)
DeleteMine started yesterday, well my son for the first time. Doesn't matter what size clothes you get them, they still always look way too big for them. My son (normally a 5-6) is wearing size 4 shorts and they look like he's swimming in them. I still think he's too little to start school. Very cute!

too funny Caden is wearing size 4 shorts too. What is it with school clothing sizes?!
DeleteMy eldest had her first day of year 7 yesterday... next year will be a biggy with High School for her!!! I'm glad Mahli went off without any tears... unlike the little boy I witnessed clinging for dear life to the back seat of his car as his Mum tried to coax him out! hehehe!!!
ReplyDeleteHigh School next year! That is exciting and scary all at once!
DeleteOh poor little mite, hope his mine had better luck this morning :)
Eeek! My little Amelia start's kinder in 2 weeks here in Vic. I'll be the emotional mess..not her! Althouh, I will be busy trying to pluck her little sister from the kinder since she is still convinced she will be going too..
ReplyDeleteI'm glad everything went well for your two :) Elthan would be one happy camper with all the free toys now!
Sounds like a great start to the school year. DD2 started school last year so no newbies starting this year. I think that DD3 is secretly looking forward to school returning as it means undivided attention for her.
ReplyDeleteDon't they just look so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad they both had a wonderful day. No tears is amazing!!
Oh so glad it went well! That's a relief! We have no new ones starting this year. Bailey may start preschool mid year if there is room, but otherwise he will go next year. Taylah is in year 4 and Bridie year 1! I find that rather terrifying!
ReplyDeleteOh i really hope next year MissE's 1st day of school goes so well. Its 12 months away and im already worried lol It might just be me crying. Its a big 1st for me this is the start of a whole new stage for our whole family eek lol
ReplyDeleteOh you really do feel so much better when the back to school/kindy transition goes well, don't you! We've had back to school/kindy this week too and so far, so good!! They do seem tired already though. I'm glad they have Thursday off to help ease them back into the flow of things!
ReplyDeleteGlad they're day went well! Its nice when that first day goes well :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a smooth start to the year for all of you, I am so glad everything went well. It is nice to hear a few positive stories about the start of school :)
ReplyDeleteOh that is fantastic news!!! Hunter took a good 2 weeks to settle into school - and even then I had to stay until after roll. I'm hoping I can put him into before school care this year - so another change for him! I hope they continue to love it!
