The Lego Party

Last weekend Caden turned six and we celebrated by having a Lego Themed birthday party with his friends.

The icing on the cake started to melt, but Caden still loved the cake. It is just a sponge cake with marshmallows on top.

No party is complete with out a pinata!

As you can see from the photo above, Caden got pretty hot and sweaty from running around with his friends.

They played pass the parcel, pin the smile on the lego man, guess how many lego pieces in the jar, what's the time mister wolf, a lego and spoon race, musical statues and lots and lots of running around with a football and a soccer ball.

We have no more kids birthdays until January now. Mahli is already planning it...

{Party Planner} Lego Party

Caden's 6th Birthday is this weekend and we are having a Lego Themed party for him. So this week we have been trying to get things organised for that.

We have been building things with Lego

We've also been working on party bags and trying to figure out what type of games to play to keep a group of about 20-30 kids from the ages of 18 months to 8 years entertained for 3 hours.

These fantastic colouring in books are a printable from Cleo Livin' Life

One game we are planning on having is a guessing game for they kids and they are to guess how many Lego pieces in the jar...

Not sure how well that will go.

We are in the process of making a pin the sword on the lego ninja game. And Caden has requested that we play musical statues.
But do you have any other ideas for us?

What games do you think we should play?

Party Planner: A Lego Party

Caden is turning 6 very very soon. At first he requested a Ghost party, and as much as I liked that idea I was kind of hoping that he would choose a Lego Party instead, I have wanted him to have a Lego party since his Cars birthday party last year. I let him go with his Ghost party planning though. He started his guest list and was thinking of games they could play and what type of cake he would like until he spotted me looking at Lego Parties on Pinterest and promptly changed his mind!

So a Lego Party it is! Here are a few of the pins that grabbed his attention-

The Best Ever Birthday+ giveaway

Product Talk by Nuffnang

We were recently sent a copy of the brand new book The Best Ever Birthday by Louise Fulton Keats (yes, she is the granddaughter of the amazing Margaret Fulton) and the kids have just loved it.

The book follows Lulu and Harry as they prepare for Lulu's birthday party. Will they get everything done in time? Will it be a success?

This gorgeous story is filled with wonderful illustrations through out

And then it includes some wonderful recipes from the story too.

We tried our hand on making some of the chocolate meteoroids from the book, but B and the kids ate them before I could get a photo...

AND it also has this wonderful conversion table which I think all cookbooks should include!

I am giving away one copy of The Best Ever Birthday to one MahliMoo, Me and Three reader. To enter simply leave a comment. Maybe you could tell me about your best or worst birthday ever?

You must be a MahliMoo, Me and Three follower to enter. The winner will be drawn on 25th of June and will be notified via email so please make sure I can contact you.

The Rainbow Party

Well the Rainbow Party is over! It poured with rain all day so we didn't end up using all the decorations for fear that the rain would wreck them, but we still got out the paddling pool and the jumping castle and put the kids swimmers on as planned... they were going to get wet anyway.

For the food table we had a lot of colour and used a ruffled crepe paper back drop (tutorial for ruffled crepe paper from Made) to, you know, add more colour!

Some of the foods were-
 a rainbow fruit platter

 Rainbow Jellies

M&M's, Skittles and multicoloured popcorn

I did also make some rainbow fudge but it started melting to fast for me to be able to put it out.

To drink we had rainbow punch

We played pass the parcel and the kids got to whack a pinata

Even Ethan had a go!

We set up a paddling pool for the kids as well as the jumping castle... and I have just realised that I have no photos of the kids on the jumping castle, oops!

And here is the cake:

And then the kids went home with these party bags.

They were filled with balloons, coloured pencils, notepads and some chocolate money. We had planned on doing a treasure hunt for the pot of gold under the rainbow, but due to they rain, they went home with the gold in their party bags instead.

Mahli declared it the best party ever. And we are all settling in for an early night and a DVD on the couch. It certainly is the weather for it.
