Happy Birthday Sweet Girl
Miss Mahli is 4, FOUR!!! Where has the time gone?
I remember going to the hospital to spend the night as my blood pressure was playing up, they told me I would most likely be induced in the morning, but not to early so they told B not to rush in. They gave me a tablet to help me sleep and that was it. After I restless night, the midwife came it at 6am and told me that my OB was here to induce me. So much for B not having to rush in.
Anyway, they didn't actually break my waters until just after 7am and then they put the drip in and left me to it. B arrived just after 8 and proceeded to watch Sunrise while relaxing in his recliner, not believing me that I was in so much pain. At around 930 I sent him for the camera and told him she wouldn't be far off. No-one seemed to believe me. They all assured me it would be hours yet, my contractions weren't showing up that strong on the CTG. You see I had to be monitored the whole time since I was attempting a VBAC. I remember being along in the delivery suite and the only way to deal with the pain was through making noise... I don't know why, but my pain relief method is, well it isn't exactly screaming, but it is making a loud noise, but NOT a scream.
B comes back and tells me that he can here me on the ward and I tell him, that frankly, I don't give a damn. I am in pain and no one believes that the baby is coming soon. The midwife comes back and agrees to check me out. The look on her face was priceless, she paged my OB right away. He strolled in 5 minutes later to watch the midwife deliver Miss Mahli at 10:10 am on January 31st 2008, just under 2 weeks early.
I can not believe that it was four years ago!
So, happy 4th birthday sweet girl. We love you to the moon and back

ReplyDeleteI giggled when I read the part about you being noisy... my partner and I reckon we should have taped me.. it would have made great death metal singing! :D
Yay on a successful VBAC! I am hoping to do a Vbac with my (if we have one) 3rd child.. as 2 breeched c-sections made in impossible!

ReplyDeleteAnd congrats for you Amy! She is just beautiful. (I was a loud birther too.)
Such a cutie - happy birthday. I was induced for my 2nd and it took 2 hours from first contraction - when we say they are coming - they are coming!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. Both of mine have birthdays in a month so I'd better start planning. They'll be one and three.
ReplyDeleteI was going for a VBAC when Lil S was due but ended up with a second c-section. Doc wasn't willing to risk induction either. Anyway, what counts is a healthy baby and mum.
I love to hear about successful VBACs! I have had three labours, none of which ended with a baby being delivered 'naturally'. The worst of the worst! Happy birthday to your little princess. She is gorgeous (and I just love the bunting on that gigantic cake!) x
ReplyDeleteMy boy turns 4 next month. I cannot believe it. Happy Birthday to your precious girl!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a child, I remember birthdays being all about the celebration, cake and presents. But now I'm a parent I realise that it means something different ... a celebration of how far they have come and remembering special moments like the day they were born. You've captured that well in this post. Beautiful.
