"The story follows five desperate high school students who meet in detention, realize they can be a big hit if they work at it, and ultimately form a band called Lemonade Mouth that becomes a champion for students sidelined by the high school elite. "Yes it has the music and the teen romance angles but the main message that I got from the film was to not be afraid to stand up for what you believe in and make your self be heard, but don't quote me on that, I was known to get C's in analytical English essays and assignments... none the less I think these are great messages for kids to be getting.
I watched this movie with Miss Mahli who is 3 and Master Ethan 10 months (he slept through the first half!) Mahli got distracted quite often but was back as soon as the music started again dancing around the lounge room and Ethan got his groove on as soon as he woke up.
I actually enjoyed the movie but I think it is suited to older children aged from 9-10ish through to about 15. There were a lot of positive messages in the film and I will no doubt watch it again especially now that the weather is cooling down and we are finding ourselves snuggled up on the couch together as a family more often.
Oh did I mention it stars Tisha Campbell-Martin, you may remember her from such TV shows as My Wife and Kids. I loved that show, so that was extra brownie points for this movie in my books.
And guess what... I have one copy of Lemonade Mouth to give away to one of my readers. Cool huh!
